In 2007 husband and wife team, Kevin & Jodie Panagapka decided to register a small Pinot Noir vineyard on her parents’ property. They were given the Grape Growing Number 2027, from that 2027 Cellars was born. Originally starting as a “virtual” winery, 2027 Cellars produced their first vintage of wine, 100 cases of Riesling. Since 2007 all their wine has been strictly sold to licensee customers and did not become available to the public until 2020.

2027 is a hands-on operation, with founder and winemaker Kevin Panagapka managing all the vineyard blocks from which he sources his grapes. Kevin selects specific rows and determines all vineyard practices such as leaf-pulling, cluster-thinning and harvest date to achieve the optimal quality he wants. Fruit is always hand-harvested for vineyard-designated Chardonnay, Riesling, Pinot Noir and Traditional Method Sparkling. In the cellar, only Burgundian oak is used – Alliers, Nevers and Vosges – and fermentations are completed with indigenous yeasts.

These small-batch, artisanal and terroir-driven wines are a true representation of their individual vineyard sites throughout the Niagara Peninsula and they highlight the diversity and quality of the region.
