This Pinot Noir vineyard, is located on in the sub appellation of St. David’s Bench. The portion used is a small plot of 9 year old; clone 667, Piont Noir vines.
The St. David’s bench runs from the Niagara River to Beechwood Road. The vineyards benefit from gentle north facing slopes, sheltered by the Escarpment. With good airflow, this area also benefits from the early onset of spring.
The soils in the St David’s bench are deep and rich clay. Layered over red sandstone, the soil is composed of silty clays and clay loam till.
